David Feichter has decided to leave the company
Eschborn/Berlin, 13 March 2026. Nexi Germany today announced the appointment of Dirk Schmidt as CEO of orderbird GmbH, effective 1 March 2026. In his new role, Schmidt assumes overall responsibility for orderbird —with a specific focus on strategy, growth, and profitability—and will further strengthen collaboration within Nexi DACH. He will report to Thomas Spreitzer, CEO Nexi DACH, and join the Nexi DACH leadership team.
At the same time, David Feichter has decided to pursue a new professional opportunity outside the Nexi Group.
Thomas Spreitzer, CEO Nexi DACH, said: “I would like to thank David Feichter for his contributions to orderbird. His strong commitment and the significant progress he drove in further developing orderbird and advancing its integration within the Nexi Group are highly valued. We wish him every success for the future—both professionally and personally.”
With deep expertise in POS and payments—and as a recognized hospitality/gastronomy specialist—Dirk is uniquely positioned to guide orderbird into its next phase of accelerated growth. His priorities include sharpening the value proposition for ISVs and merchants, scaling the SaaS/POS footprint, and speeding up the integration of Nexi payment solutions across the orderbird platform and partner network.
Dirk will harness Nexi’s capabilities and go‑to‑market strength—from partnerships and distribution to best‑in‑class payment acceptance and data‑driven value‑added services—to unlock new cross‑sell motions and capture share across DACH.
Thomas Spreitzer: “Dirk is a well‑respected gastro and hospitality expert. His blend of product and market expertise and leadership experience is exactly what we need now to accelerate growth, put our go‑to‑market muscle to even better use, and deepen the integration of Nexi’s payment solutions across the ISV ecosystem.”
Dirk Schmidt, CEO of orderbird commented: “I’m excited to take on this role. Together with the team, we will accelerate orderbird’s growth, deliver even more value to hospitality and retail customers, and put Nexi Group’s strengths—from acceptance to partnerships—to work for our customers and ISV partners.”
Schmidt will already be present in his new role at INTERNORGA, the leading international trade fair for the catering and hotel industry, which will take place in Hamburg from 13 to 17 March 2026.
Since 2015, Schmidt has held senior leadership roles in the gastro and hospitality sector, leading processes, products, and services with a strong customer and market focus. He has overseen the development and implementation of go‑to‑market strategies, the full product lifecycle, as well as innovative solutions and strategic partnerships—since 2018 in C‑level positions at HRS and at well‑known POS solution providers SIDES, GASTROFIX, and Lightspeed. Earlier, he spent many years at Novell, most recently as General Manager & VP EMEA.
